Utility Reliability Comparison
Select your U.S. state and utility type to see how your power reliability compares against the more than 3,000 licensed electric distribution utilities reporting SAIDI and SAIFI under U.S. Energy Information Administration EIA Form 861. According to the EIA, the national-average SAIDI was approximately 142 minutes per customer per year in 2022 (excluding major event days). See our methodology for refresh cadence. Compare: to state and national averages. Based on EIA Form 861 SAIDI and SAIFI data from 900+ electric utilities across the US.

Understanding SAIDI and SAIFI
SAIDI (System Average Interruption Duration Index) measures the total minutes per year the average customer is without power. Lower is better. The national average is approximately 120 minutes/year (with major events) or 80 minutes/year (without major events).
SAIFI (System Average Interruption Frequency Index) counts how many times per year the average customer experiences a power outage. The national average is approximately 1.2 outages/year.
